Youth Conference 2014

June 26-28, 2014
(I am making some cheesy faces in some of these pictures.. Please excuse them.. Haha ;P)

This is the 3rd Youth Conference I have had the opportunity to go to. It was the whole stake this year which made for lots of fun!

We were mixed up among the stake for our groups during the day but our wards were put together in tents. Don't worry, the boys and girls were separated very far from each other.

This year Youth Conference was held at the Benson Grist Mill in Stansbury Park. We didn't go very far but it was still a blast!

Day 1
Got there and set up our tents.

Played games with our groups.
We had to stand in a line and put our hands on each others shoulders, we then put balloons in between each of us and were not allowed to pop or loose our balloon. Then we race the other team. It was an interestingly fun game.
Another game we did was called, "see who can throw their javelin plastic straw the farthest"

We came up with a group name and a ditty. Our group was pink so they came up with the name pink panther and the pink panther theme was our ditty. I told them it was not such a hot idea. Guess who was right..
There was ANOTHER pink group. Who also called themselves pink panthers. Their ditty was the pink panther theme song... (;

We had to come up with a skit based on the scripture story where they promise not to fight and bury their weapons.
We watched all the groups skits.
Ours was pretty good :D
So was everyone else's :)

It rained. There were A LOT of snails. I might of accidentally stepped on one while walking in the dark that night.. The sound it made! :O
Staying out of the rain!!

We did a little sight seeing around the grist mill.

This was an old fashioned out house..
With two toilets in it!
There was a creepy mannequin in there!

I'm not sure why we were laughing so hard.
I was having a blast the whole time!

Watched some boys play frisbee.
Watched other kids play soccer, Alexia was one of them :)
Had some stew, rolls, and brownies for dinner!

Had an awesome devotional! The first speaker talked about loving others and seeing them how they see themselves instead of how they see us.
The second speaker taught that it is important to always love and forgive others.. I think. At least that was something I got out of it!

We watched a movie called Inspired Guns. It's actually pretty funny!

Stacey went to Soelbergs and brought us back some birthday confetti oreos!
We ate them in the tent and talked and had a VERY fun time.
We were the last ward up and we stayed up pretty late... hehe :)

Day 2
A very fun day!

We had pancakes and bacon for breakfast!

We did service time!
We washed all the windows in the buildings.
We pulled weeds.
Some people painted the fence.
We made a video for some of the less active people in our youth group or people who weren't able to make it.
We wrote our testimonies in a Book of Mormon so missionaries can give them to converts.
At the Book of Mormon station we had a speaker named Brother Logan, he told us a story of how he wrote his testimony in a Book of Mormon when he was living in California at the age of 12. He later went on his mission to Texas and met a man who was previously converted and had received the Book of Mormon that Brother Logan had written his testimony in as a 12 year old boy
It was a very cool story :)

We played adventurous games.
We all sat in a circle and had someone stand in the middle. The person in the middle practically did a trust fall and we tossed them around the circle!

We walked to the park and played games!
We played water balloon battleship.
We played kiddie pool/slip n' slide kick ball. There was a fire hose included.
We made boats out of cardboard.
We did a scavenger hunt around the whole park.

We had a bbq dinner!
Played the card game BS while we ate.

Walked to the lake.
The leaders put our cardboard boats to the test. Our boat stayed up pretty long!

Walked to the church.
Had a fireside with great youth speakers! The spirit was strong.

Had a dance!
This was probably one of the more fun dances I have ever been too.
Our leaders can really bust some moves. Stacey and Kirsten are quite a show! :)
We did some limbo!
I danced with my friend Chad on one of the dances and my friend Aaron on the last dance..
Chad and Aaron are brothers. I have kind of a theme going here.
My face was pretty burnt..
Stayed up late in the tent once again! :)

Day 3
Packed up all of our stuff before breakfast.
Half of the crew!
(We were missing a couple from our ward in the picture)

Ate some delicious muffins for breakfast. They had a big variety!

Did a parable walk. We walked around the Grist Mill to different speakers who talked about different parables and told different stories and examples. It was very cool.

After that we were allowed to pack up and head out. Since we had already done all of that, we were the first ones out! Our ward seems to have a habit of doing that :)

I had a fantastic time at Youth Conference this year!

I'm not super buff
but that it a pretty good farmers tan! ;)
-->Ashley! :)
